Following a whirlwind Vegas elopement and a much-dissected Parisian honeymoon, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are gearing up for a proper wedding later this summer. The pair has reportedly tapped events mastermind, Colin Cowie, to help organize the celebration. One of Vogue’s most highly recommended wedding planners, Cowie’s firm – which has offices in New York City, Los Angeles, and Miami – has curated special occasions for everyone from Oprah Winfrey to Kim Kardashian through the years. A recent coup? Staging DJ Tiësto’s marriage to model Annika Backes at Amangiri, the futuristic Aman resort set in the middle of the Utah desert that’s become an A-list favorite since opening in 2009.
While the location of Bennifer’s wedding has yet to be confirmed (and no doubt will be kept secret until after the fact), it seems likely that it will take place on Affleck’s private riverfront estate on Hampton Island in Georgia. The 90-acre grounds were due to serve as the backdrop for the couple’s original 400-person wedding back in 2003.
Everything coming full circle has delighted Lopez, who has opened up about her relationship in her newsletter. “Stick around long enough, and maybe you’ll find the best moment of your life in a drive-through in Las Vegas at 12:30 in the morning… with your kids and the one you’ll spend forever with,” she wrote the day after tying the knot on the Strip. “Love is a great thing, maybe the best of things – and worth waiting for.” Given that the Versace muse wore two different looks for her impromptu Nevada wedding – a sleeveless Alexander McQueen dress and a corseted Zuhair Murad gown – bets are on as to what Jenny from the Block will wear for the more formal nuptials.
