On September 20, 2022, Emirati designer Yasmin Al Mulla tied the knot with Ahmad Belhoul in a dreamy, picture-perfect Lake Como wedding ceremony. The fashion entrepreneur, who is the name behind Dubai-based label YNM, took to Instagram to share the happy news with her 50.2k followers, and has been sharing snippets of her big day with well-wishers over the past few weeks.

During this blissful period of her life, the newly-wed also took out the time to speak with Vogue Arabia about her wedding day, and how she brought her vision for the ultimate nuptials to life. “I’ve always envisioned my wedding to be intimate, ethereal, and unique,” Al Mulla revealed during an exclusive interview. But though her wedding looked like the perfect Instagram-worthy ceremony, the designer faced many of the challenges that pandemic brides around the globe found themselves dealing with over the past two years. “The idea of a destination wedding developed organically after being engaged during the pandemic. Afterwards, everything worked out smoothly which made me believe that having it in Italy is meant to be.”

Given the restrictions that Covid-19 brought with it, Al Mulla found herself juggling several roles at once, working on her label with sister Nesreen Al Mulla while also coordinating one of the most important events of her life remotely. “I’ve planned the wedding myself from Dubai,” she shared. “I am very passionate about details, and wouldn’t be comfortable hiring someone to do it for me, especially since I knew exactly what I want. I have had an accurate direction/mood board to follow. I’ve enjoyed the process, the happy moments, planning, coordinating, and the exhaustion. Everything was truly delightful!”

For her special day, Al Mulla pulled out all the stops to create a one-of-a-kind bridal ensemble—inspired by the location of the wedding itself.

“Lake Como is one of the most romantic places in the world and I wanted to create a dress as romantic as my 240-year-old venue… A timeless and a classic creation that can be worn 30 years from now,” she explained.  I am so thankful for the beautiful Jimmy Choo family and Sandra Choi for managing to create my beautiful bespoke bridal for the most important day in my life.” Al Mulla said her I Do’s in a gorgeous white YNM Bridal gown that featured layers and layers of light-as-air ivory tulle. The ensemble came with balloon-like wrist length sleeves for a modest touch, and its voluminous silhouette created a fairytale-like effect ideal for a regal ceremony. To top it off, the bride complemented her gown with a diamond necklace, earring and ring set, made to emulate flower petals, and a pair of sparkling Jimmy Choo peep-toes that came with crystal-studded straps and heels, and the sweetest customized detail of all: the bride and groom’s initials, Y and A, separated by a heart under each shoe.

Ask Al Mulla which element of her D-Day look was her favorite, and you’ve got her puzzled. “Choosing one favorite thing is insanely hard!” she said. “I’ve carefully selected each element in my look to achieve a timeless result [that will last even] years and years from now. From my dazzling Pasquale Bruni set to the dreamy dandelion bouquet, to the classic makeup by Lesile Dumeix via Dior Beauty, and the delicate hairstyle by Paola Bianchera… and everything in between.”
