Dubai Stars has been the talk of the town since it was announced, and now, Downtown’s newest attraction is finally open to the public.
The dazzling opening ceremony took place on October 20, when regional and international stars christened this historic moment. Amongst the 400 stars, Emaar unveiled the Dubai Stars with Emirati singer Balqees Fathi – who celebrated her birthday on stage – Egyptian actress and actor Mona Zaki, Ahmad Helmi, Bollywood style icon Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Pakistani singer Atif Aslam.
Competing with the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Dubai Stars has confirmed that when the project is completed, it will host 10,000 stars – four times more than the one in Los Angeles.
“The energy I feel today is about appreciation, peace, and love … It is wonderful that there are stars from the Middle East and abroad who are now a part of Dubai Stars,” said Mona Zaki on the sidelines of the press conference.
The eight eminent figures were awarded their commemorative plaques during the celebratory ceremony.
“As an artist and as actor-filmmaker, you want your work to reach as many people. You want it to cross borders, and that’s what every actor or artist wishes for. I am so glad that my work is relevant to this part of the world. To get recognition is amazing,” said Kapoor Ahuja. She also said that being a role model for millions isn’t an easy job. Her father, Anil Kapoor, is also one of the several stars featured on Dubai’s hottest attraction.
Dubai isn’t just known for breaking records, the city is also known for its culturally diverse population. Through the Dubai Stars, they aim to reach boundaries beyond the city and region. The attraction is a token of appreciation for some of the world’s most influential personalities. The massive list includes actors Rami Malek and Priyanka Chopra, singers Beyonce and Nancy Ajram, football stars Mo Salah and Lionel Messi, as well as designer Elie Saab and beauty mogul Huda Kattan.
Change-makers and leaders in the society, from entertainment and arts to sports and social media, Emaar covered it all. Influencer Khalid Al Ameri was overjoyed when he was recognized as a Dubai Star. Speaking his heart, he referred to himself as the “little guy,” in a list of significant personalities.
“I am just happy that I am here today. I am like the little guy, so it’s an honor to represent my country and share the work that we do across the world. It brings communities together. I want to thank everyone who recognized the little guy and the impact we have had,” said Al Ameri.
Open now on the Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, tourists and residents can witness the star power right here in Dubai.
“Emaar does not just create communities, we strive to create remarkable experiences within these communities,” Downtown Dubai General Manager, Shymma Binbrek, said at the event. “The Dubai Stars is a walkable star-studded experience across Downtown Dubai, honoring global personalities from all walks of life on their achievements and work.”
