Pictures: 6 Times Queen Elizabeth Gave Us a Peek at Her Very Relatable Beauty Ritual

One handbag necessity the Queen never leaves the palace without? Lipstick. Her Majesty famously loves color (just see her wardrobe of paintbox brights for details), and that extends to her makeup too. She’s a fan of a bright lip, and has worn vibrant corals and pinks for her many public engagements.

Over the course of her reign, the Queen has also been spied reapplying her lipstick at events, whether a horse show, the Commonwealth Games, or most recently, while taking in A Gallop Through History, the equestrian display staged at Windsor Castle last month to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee. Though lenses can’t get close enough to reveal exactly which brand and shade Her Majesty is using, Elizabeth Arden’s Beautiful Color Lipstick in Fig is said to be among the Queen’s favorites.

After a lifetime in the public eye – and 70 years on the throne – the Queen is now so adept at reapplying her lipstick she doesn’t even require the aid of a mirror.

Below, six times the Queen couldn’t resist touching up her lipstick.
