Buckingham Palace’s official social media accounts shared the happy news on behalf of Beatrice—daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson—and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Ready the royal bassinet, there’s a new baby on the way. Princess Beatrice, daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, is pregnant with her second child, Buckingham Palace announced on social media Tuesday. She and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi welcomed daughter Sienna Elizabeth in September 2021, and Beatrice is also stepmother to Mozzi’s son from a previous relationship, Christopher Woolf.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together early in the new year; a sibling for Wolfie and Sienna,” the palace’s statement read. “His Majesty the King has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.”

Emojis—a crown by the mention of King Charles III, a baby bottle and party horn to kick things off with appropriate pizzazz—were sprinkled throughout the announcement for good measure. The post was accompanied by two photos, one of Beatrice and Mozzi embracing, and another, taken from behind, of Mozzi holding hands with Sienna and Wolfie, on a nature trail. Sienna, whose middle name is in honor of her late great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth, recently celebrated her third birthday.
Mozzi and Beatrice wed in July 2020 in an intimate ceremony after COVID-19 forced them to postpone their planned ceremony, a more lavish affair typical of the royal family, which was scheduled for May 2020. Instead, once quarantine restrictions in the U.K. began to loosen, they pulled together a ceremony and party for 20 guests, including the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, at the All Saints Chapel in Windsor, across the street from Royal Lodge, where Beatrice’s parents live. They planned the small, surprise affair in about two weeks, they said after the big reveal.
If this coming baby is anything like their big sister Sienna, TK. Earlier this year, a friend of Beatrice’s named Gabriela Peacock said that Sienna is “really cheeky and has a very good personality.” What’s more: “Sienna is absolutely gorgeous and looks exactly like Bea.”
Peacock also gushed about Beatrice’s relationship with Mozzi (“a perfect couple and great team”) and special connection with her stepson, who goes by the nickname Wolfie.
“Bea has such a good heart and she’s such a kind person, so motherhood came very naturally to her; she’s a fantastic mum,” Peacock said. “She’s had Wolfie in her life since she and Edo met and has always been incredible with him. She is extremely nurturing and involved with both kids’ lives. It’s lovely to see my best friend growing into this next stage of her life and to share it with her.”
