HH Sheikh Mohammed Meets King Charles in London Before Attending Queen Elizabeth II’s Funeral

Ahead of Queen Elizabeth II‘s funeral in the United Kingdom today, the Arab world’s most powerful leaders have made their way to London to be part of the final farewell to the monarch.

Crown Prince Mishal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah flew in on Sunday, while Prime Minister of Egypt, Moustafa Madbouli got ready to attend the funeral on behalf of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi. Also in attendance will be King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa arrived of Bahrain, King Abdullah and Queen Rania of Jordan, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq al-Moazam, and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Among the many names who will make an appearance at the funeral was His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Sheikh Mohammed was among the first to share a public message of condolence with the royal family post the demise of Queen Elizabeth, and also met with King Charles III at Buckingham Palace this weekend.

According to reports, HH Sheikh Mohammed expressed his condolences in person to King Charles on behalf of the government and the people of the UAE. He also used this time to share his appreciation for the role Queen Elizabeth II played in building a strong bond between the UAE and England, looking towards an equally bright future, where the ties between the two nations will continue to uplift its people.

The Queen’s funeral will take place on Monday, September 19, at 11am.
