Much more than dinner and a show, Vogue Arabia and Mastercard’s Fashion on a Plate concept last week surprised unsuspecting guests with an exclusive gastronomical and sartorial journey at La Perle by Dragone. Award-winning architects, passionate humanitarians, successful business owners, and celebrated creatives were invited to this behind-the-scenes experience, beginning backstage with a cocktail reception serving international bites and exotic drinks.
A private, bespoke performance of the show originally created by artistic director Franco Dragone renowned for award-winning entertainment worldwide featured gravity-defying acrobatics and dramatic special effects at the aquatic theater in Al Habtoor City for an exhilarating insider’s glimpse at the region’s first permanent show. In collaboration with Makeup Forever, the brand’s locally acclaimed in-house makeup artist Alberto painted performers’ faces with looks inspired by iconic Vogue covers in preparation for the main event while enthusiasts looked on, picking up a few tips for themselves to use at their next function.
The main stage also acted as the ideal backdrop to serve an extravagant dinner featuring a curated menu of 72-hours braised short ribs glazed with truffle and Balik smoked salmon with Sturia caviar to mushroom orzo topped with charred rainbow carrots and an aptly named ‘symphony of autumn’ consommé for dessert.
Vogue Arabia editor-in-chief Manuel Arnaut welcomed many of the Middle East’s most influential figures including His Excellency Joaquim Moreira de Lemos, Portugal’s ambassador to the UAE, Mastercard global CMO Raja Rajamannar, MENA division president Khaled Elgibali, and MENA SVP of marketing and communications Beatrice Cornacchia along with Syrian couture designer of the stars Rami Al Ali, local entrepreneurs Anas Bukhash and Reem Abou Samra Saudi, and rising Saudi designer Arwa Al Banawi.
Next time you think you’re just heading out to dinner, you may be in for an unexpected treat if Vogue Arabia and Mastercard have anything to do with it.
