March 25: The lunar eclipse in Libra urges us to let go of outdated beliefs, situations and relationships that aren’t working for us.

April 8: The solar eclipse in Aries is making us contemplate what we want to bring into our lives, and how we wish to pursue the things that make us happy.

October 2: The solar eclipse in Libra helps us to find what we want in relationships and friendships. We’ll be reminded that we shouldn’t settle for anything shorter than greatness.

2024’s biggest astrological dates: The Retrogrades

Retrograde periods occur when the Earth is moving faster than another planet, and serve as an opportunity to review and improve past projects, as well as to reflect on our relationships and life circumstances. Retrogrades can be a beneficial period, allowing us to heal from past experiences and move forward with a fresh perspective.

Mercury Retrograde

The planet of communication, Mercury, will be retrograde three times in 2024.

April 1 to April 25: With Mercury spinning backwards in Aries, we may feel frustrated in expressing our emotions. To release these pent-up emotions, try engaging in an activity that allows ample time to process and remove these residual negative sentiments.

August 5 to August 28: Mercury moves backwards from Virgo to Leo. We may find ourselves being more self-critical than usual. It’s important to counteract those negative thoughts with positive affirmations, and make the effort to nurture a healthy relationship with yourself.

November 26 to December 15: Mercury glides through Sagittarius, revisiting 2017, which is the last time Mercury was retrograde in the same sign. We are learning how to use words to our advantage and to not speak on impulse, but rather to speak with compassion and kindness.

Mars Retrograde

The planet of action, Mars, will moonwalk towards the end of 2024.

December 6 to February 24, 2025: Mars backspins from Leo to Cancer, making us more in tune with our emotions. We are learning to act from a place of love, rather than ego.

Jupiter Retrograde

The planet of expansion and luck, Jupiter, will be retrograde for nearly two seasons in 2024.

October 9 to February 4 2025: Jupiter retrograde in Gemini will allow us to see the bigger picture.

Saturn Retrograde

Austere Saturn is the rule-maker of the zodiac, who is more softhearted and commitment-oriented when retrograde.

June 29 to November 15: Saturn’s retrograde in Pisces asks us to be more selfless and sensitive to the needs of others.

Uranus Retrograde

The planet of revolution, Uranus, allows us to take baby steps towards change when retrograde. January 27 ends the retrograde that began on August 29, allowing us to start 2024 on a fresh note.

September 1 to January 30 2025: Uranus will be backspinning in Taurus, helping us to evolve with the times.

Neptune Retrograde

The planet of illusion, Neptune, will be retrograde once in 2024, exposing our innermost dreams and the reality that we’ve been hiding from.

July 2 to December 7: retrograde Neptune in Pisces will allow us to align with our visions and make them a reality. We will uncover truths that we’ve been hiding from for a very long time.

Pluto Retrograde

The planet of transformation. Pluto is deconstructing and restructuring our lives in 2024 to bring out the best versions of ourselves.

May 2 to October 12: Pluto retrograde moves from Aquarius to Capricorn. We are being tested to see what we have learned in the past year, to ensure that we are ready to transcend in the future.

Venus’s Love

Venus, the planet associated with charm and elegance, will be forming several significant aspects as it moves through the zodiac signs this year.

February 22: When the planets of love, Venus, and action, Mars, form a conjunction in Aquarius, we’ll want to make moves in our love lives.

May 23: Venus and Jupiter in Taurus unite, bringing love and money our way.

June 4: Venus Star Point occurs when the Sun and Venus link up in Gemini, pushing us to communicate our emotional needs and to speak from the heart.

Jupiter’s Expansive Experience

Jupiter is the planet of risks, travel, and philosophy. This year, it will make its way from Taurus to Gemini, allowing us to actually discuss the visions that we’ve been manifesting.

April 21: Jupiter connects with Uranus in Taurus, shaking up our finances and lives. Expect the unexpected.

May 18: Touted as the “day of miracles”, the alignment between the Sun and Jupiter in Taurus brings us immense luck.

May 26: The planet Jupiter will move into Gemini, allowing us to utilise our intellect and mind to better solve problems and comprehend situations. This will lead us to become more inquisitive and amiable when deciphering complex issues. The last instance of Jupiter in Gemini was from June 2012 to 2013.

August 19 and December 4: Jupiter in Gemini squares Saturn in Pisces. We might feel slightly ambivalent about how to move forward or what direction to take. We will try to make growth happen and take a chance to get moving.

Pluto’s Planetary Switch

Pluto brings sudden changes to us, most of which we are unprepared for. As Pluto moves forward, it takes a dip backward and then moves forward again to remind us that we still have unfinished business to take care of.

January 21: Pluto is moving back into Aquarius, the same position it held in March 2023. This marks the end of one era and the beginning of another, where we’ll have the chance to focus on humanitarianism, invention, space travel and exploration. During the retrograde from September 2 to October 12, Pluto will move into Capricorn, giving us a chance to reflect on our growth and evolution. After that, Pluto will continue its forward motion, returning to Aquarius on November 19 for the next two decades.

Chiron’s Healing

Chiron, the centaur, is often referred to as the “wounded healer” due to its inability to heal itself. This perspective suggests that we can offer the parts of ourselves that we struggle to comprehend to others, helping them overcome their own struggles and heal from past traumas.

February 19: The centaur Chiron aligns with the North Node of Destiny in Aries, bringing universal healing. This is a time in which we will all be dealing with and working on our wounds by trying to help others.
