5 things you need to know about HiFi

The name HiFi was coined by her teacher

When she was in school, the musician’s English teacher nicknamed her HiFi because she was the loudest person in class. The name stands for ‘High-quality reproduction of sound’.

Her music journey started when she was just 10 years old

When she was 10, HiFi discovered Limewire — a music platform used to download music back in the day. This led her to discover a variety of new and exciting genres, artists, and albums. Young HiFi used to download songs and curate playlists on CDs for her friends and families, which were all well-received.

Her favorite artists are Michael Jackson, Micheal Bibi, and Hector Couto

HiFi’s multicultural music preferences span across several genres, and it’s evident in her sets. The DJ and producer stated Michael Jackson’s tunes were a family favorite and she grew up with his songs, and her first concert back in 2009 was an unforgettable MJ show. She has also alluded to Hector Couto and Michael Bibi inspiring her house music and fun mixes.

As a female DJ in Saudi, she feels responsible about paving the way for other female creatives

In interviews, Hifi has been vocal about how being a successful female creative in Saudi has given her a sense of responsibility towards the growth and empowerment of other female artists, as well as the ever-evolving cultural shift in Saudi.

Saudi culture has inspired her music heavily

The DJ and producer has alluded to the camaraderie in Saudi culture being similar to the kingdom’s music. In an interview, she once shared, “Saudi culture is all about peace, love, bringing people together and spreading good energy with a lot of high vibrations. In the same way, music has the power to allow people to feel the music and not just hear it”. HiFi also stated that she feels honored to be able to represent the country in ways that wasn’t possible before.
