From red-carpet dresses to bridal gowns, Zuhair Murad has been a favorite of celebrities looking to make a statement. The Lebanese couturier has dressed stars including Beyoncé, and Priyanka Chopra, with his working relationship with Jennifer Lopez turning out to be one of the most iconic ones in the industry.
Since opening his first atelier in Beirut in 1997, Murad’s bridal couture and remarkable craftsmanship have taken the world by storm, putting local talent on the map. Hollywood star Sofia Vergara’s wedding dress took 1,657 hours to create and was carefully crafted with more than 11 pounds of sequins, six pounds of pearls, and 350 hand-beaded crystals. In an interview with Vogue Arabia, the designer went on to share that one of his proudest moments was when he made Lopez’s Met Gala gown in 2010 which took over 1,000 hours to make. At the 2020 Academy Awards and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, the couturier was the top pick for two of Hollywood’s biggest nights, where three stars made glamorous appearances in Zuhair Murad. Actor Kerry Washington and Egyptian star Yousra walked the carpets in looks plucked from Murad’s spring 2020 couture collection inspired by Egypt, while model Candice Swanepoel chose a blue sequined jumpsuit from his Spring 2019 couture collection.
The designer was also one of the esteemed co-chairs at the Vogue Ball of Arabia in 2021, where Egyptian star and fellow co-chair Mona Zaki walked the carpet wearing a stunning golden caped dress by the couturier.
