Fashion may not be an Olympic sport, but that doesn’t mean Zendaya isn’t playing to win.
Along with her longtime stylist, Law Roach, Zendaya is used to carving out looks that score 10s across the board. Never ones to pass up the opportunity to theme a look (we’re still thinking about her Dune 2 lookbook!), the pair have potentially just pulled out their most literal look yet.
Zendaya is currently in Paris for the Olympics, and in a carousel posted by Roach, the duo not only alluded to the games’ iconic five rings but even gave a nod to the event’s French resting place.
In the post, Zendaya is sporting a quirky white romper with bold 3D rings in red, green, yellow, blue, and black accenting the legs, pockets, and neckline. The shorts of the playsuit taper in at the thighs, while the pockets and neckline give an architectural feel to the whole look. It’s easy to see how to pair got from A to B, considering it looks like a deconstructed version of the Olympic flag come to life!

The romper in question is an archival pull from French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac’s spring-summer 2008 collection called “Sportacus.”
Despite the unique shape of the piece, Zendaya looks at home in it, which makes sense considering it’s only a few steps removed from the tenniscore outfits she sported for the Challengers press run.
The look, which has proved fairly divisive to some fans, feels like a natural fit for the pair. Earlier this year around the release of Dune 2, Roach told British Vogue: “We adopted method dressing. The looks served as an extension of the wardrobe from the movie.” It’s how the star’s showstopping archival Mugler armor came to life at the Dune 2 premiere in London and how she nabbed a pair of custom tennis ball heels from Loewe for the Challengers in Rome.
Zendaya may not have any role to extend with the Olympics, but we’d give her commitment to the art of themed dressing gold if we could.
