An icon of Arab cinema, Yousra‘s style is as praiseworthy as her acting career. As she went from one memorable role to the next over the years, her sartorial sense became synonymous with grace.
The Egyptian actor began to serve up the quintessential style of an Arab star long ago, opting for time-appropriate over-the-top gowns that spoke of her industry status. Dazzling dresses dripping with sequins and embellishments were often paired with wraps, shawls, and capes, that lent the gracefulness she is known to embody so well today. This did not mean that the former cover star was afraid of taking risks. Those who have kept up with Yousra’s longstanding career are familiar with her acting range, which often reflected in her red carpet style too. To that end, Yousra wore as many slinky dresses with slits as she did the more modest ones with voluminous skirts, and a few of the latter were even ahead of their time. The bright red cut-out creation she wore in 2018 comes to mind, and so does the black one-shoulder dress with a slit she sported in the same year.
While she is no stranger to pieces of the likes of Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana, and Armani, supporting Arab designers has always been of importance to Yousra. She has long been wearing not only world-renowned names like Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad, Georges Hobeika, and Georges Chakra, but also many lesser-known homegrown brands. But it is indeed the occasions when she has championed an Arab brand at national and international events that have been the most noteworthy. Who can forget the custom Egypt-inspired dress by Lebanese couturier Zuhair Murad she made headlines in at the Academy Awards 2020?
