When it came to looks at the 2024 Met Gala, no stone went unturned. Even the most minute details were thought out—from the 2.8 million beads covering Gigi Hadid’s Thom Browne dress to Zendaya’s red carpet outfit change.

Bags are often a neglected part of the red carpet experience, either left out of photos or a haphazard, last-minute choice. But at the 2024 Met Gala, the guests didn’t disappoint when it came to their purses.

Some arrived with bags that perfectly complemented their outfits. Nicki Miniaj toted a mini Marni purse that matched her yellow dress, while Gwendoline Christie’s Maison Margiela bag matched her burnt orange velvet dress.

Other guests chose bags that referred to the “Garden of Time” dress code. Ben Simmons carried a Thom Browne briefcase affixed with a clock and Tyla — dressed as the sands of time — held an hourglass. On the florals front, Camila Cabello carried a block of (melting!) ice with a rose frozen inside from Jane Wade, and Tessa Thompson and Cole Escola both toted fresh flowers.
