Your Vogue Preview of Zayan the Label Resort 2018

Lebanese designer Zayan Ghandour of Zayan the Label unveils her Resort 2018 collection exclusively on Vogue.me and describes how 2018 is set to be a stellar year for the brand. With multiple collaborations bubbling away in the background, the brand’s atelier has had a busy 12 months and completes on a high with a fresh, future-proof collection. “We took on a few select collaborative projects this year,” Ghandour tells Vogue. “It was such an exciting experience to work with different creative forces and visions.”

The looks on offer in the trans-seasonal collection includes gingham separates that will prove to be Instagrammable, plus playful dresses with unexpected detailing, from hand-embroidered eye motifs to multicolored lace trims. It’s for the woman who just wants to have fun and requires her wardrobe to take part in the daily festivities.

“Truly, the creative direction of Resort 2018 came from this notion that the world is getting smaller,” Ghandour adds. “With the ease of travel today, there is such an incredible diversity of backgrounds and merging of cultures happening all around us – so much so that people are more defined by their experiences than where they’re from.” The shoulder peek-a-boo dresses are especially versatile, with cross-cultural appeal. Can it be worn in London during winter? Only with a serious amount of layering, but these pieces will slot into Beirut-bound capsule closets and prove useful come spring in the UAE.

The designer is confident to weave a firm narrative into her storyboarding for new seasons. Imagination set to an effervescent high, Ghandour explains, “The story behind the collection is the tale of the Maharani and her travels from India to Italy. It expresses this new sense of identity. The styles visually reflect the princess growing through her adventures. You can almost see her experiences in the vivid colors and intricate Indian motifs on the romantic and timeless shapes of Italian fashion.” With 2004 being its landmark launch and 2011 being its debut year at Paris Fashion Week, 2018 might just be its stellar year starting out with Resort beaming from boutiques.

Zayan the Label Resort 2018 will be available from Beymen Cairo, Bloomingdale’s Kuwait, Harvey Nichols Kuwait, Harvey Nichols Riyadh, Ounass.com, Sauce Dubai, and Zayan the Label in Dubai from January 2018.
