CHANEL
Karl Lagerfeld’s muse of the moment, Kaia Gerber, appeared at once Madame de Pompadour (exaggerated quiff, corsage hair accessory, regal stance) and 60s siren in this intricately embroidered dress with feather detailing. No doubt coming to a red carpet soon via Chanel regulars Marion Cotillard or Kristen Stewart.
GIVENCHY
Construction is everything for Givenchy designer Clare Waight Keller as evidenced in the sharp shoulders, nipped waist and flawless finish of this white lace jacket. Paired with latex leggings, it’s sublimely modern – we’re sure Rooney Mara will agree.
STEPHANE ROLLAND
Dedicating his collection to the Twenties, Stephane Rolland presented an ‘anti-trend’ collection of elegant eveningwear. Paired with a sleek black head scarf, this monochrome gown with side slit is timeless perfection.
ALEXANDRE VAUTHIER
Playing to his strengths, Vauthier mined his Eighties canon once more but took a detour via the Sixties. This leopard print dress with exaggerated shoulder ruffles and thigh-high split is a stylist’s dream.
ALEXIS MABILLE
Oversized bows were everywhere on the SS19 ready to wear runways so it’s little surprise to see them at haute couture. Paired with minimal makeup, this OTT gown would really shine.
ARMANI PRIVÉ
Privé front row guests Michelle Dockery and Dakota Fanning should consider this liquid-like dress, accessorized with a Twenties fringed cap, for their next event. Subtly studded with crystals and beautifully cut on the bust, there’s a quiet elegance to this look that only a modern star would master.
