Stine Goya’s blue eyes squint as she takes in the sun streaming down on Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. “The road you travel along to get here from Marrakech really transports you from one world into another,” she murmurs. Her gaze does not move from the cinematic scene before her. If today she is far from her native Denmark, it’s to shoot the Stine Goya Ramadan offering in the most authentic way that honors this holy period, in Morocco, and with models like Vogue Arabia cover star Tilila Oulhaj and Athiec. In the over ten years since the  brand’s inception, it’s one of its many steps that serves to make it a fashion force on the international scene. There’s the recent store opening in London on Beak street, the launch of swimwear, its consistently inclusive Copenhagen Week fashion shows, recent drop of sunglasses made from 100% responsibly sourced materials right down to the screws, and fashion sneakers are around the corner launching in April. Its Ramadan drop sees its 12-piece collection captivate with the brand’s signature show-stopping optimism with citrus and rose hues and bloom prints. Below, designer Stine Goya takes Vogue Arabia behind the scenes.

VOGUE ARABIA: What brought you to the decision of creating a Ramadan capsule?
STINE GOYA: This capsule reflects our continued commitment to inclusivity and diversity and the celebration of all cultures. Creating a dedicated Ramadan capsule has been on my mind for quite some time, but now felt like the perfect time to go for it. As we continue to grow as a brand and further position ourselves as global players, it’s more important than ever to cater to all markets, tapping into key mindset moments.

Can you describe the clothes that you decided to create for this capsule?
The 12-piece capsule comprises our key signature styles redesigned with those special Ramadan moments in mind. From reinventing the Jasmine dress in golden floral jacquard to a floaty kaftan and sequin-adorned co-ords, the collection is filled with sophisticated pieces we hope our customers will love.

Can you describe the experience of the location where you were in Morocco?
Sensory overload is the best way to describe it. We fell in love with the abundant warmth of the people we came into contact with. The mountain air felt fresh and nourishing, while the soft breeze brought in fragrant wafts of delicious tagines cooking in the distance. The golden light at both dawn and dusk created the perfect backdrop to terracotta buildings and rust-red terrain. It was absolutely magical.

What did you learn during your time there?
There is simply nothing that compares to waking up to mountain views and being surrounded by raw and rugged nature. It was an excellent opportunity to be more present, to try and disconnect from the outside world, and to reconnect with ourselves and the natural environment. Sometimes there is nothing more simple and beautiful in life than having the chance to do that.

Tell us about the experience of working with models Tilila and Athiec.
We were adamant we wanted to work with local models for this campaign and were so excited to book Athiec and Tilila. They were terrific to work with and a lot of fun to be around on set. It was a long day shooting in the middle of some tricky terrain, which is very different to the controlled environment of a studio, but they handled it like pros, and we had a fantastic day. We couldn’t be happier with the end result. Shop the Stine Goya Ramadan collection from February 21st on Stinegoya.com and Harvey Nichols (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Dubai, and UK) and, Bloomingdales (Kuwait and Dubai), Tyrano (Abu Dhabi) and Saks Fifth Avenue (Bahrain).
