Shanina Shaik Reveals Her Pre-Victoria’s Secret Show Routine

It’s one of the world’s most famed and photographed catwalk displays so, naturally, preparing for the annual Victoria’s Show is at the forefront of models’ minds. And, in the run-up to the runway extravaganza, which is due to be taped in New York City this month, one of the faces set to take to the catwalk has shared her pre-show regime.

Shanina Shaik, who is returning to the VS show after a two-year hiatus, is working out twice a day in the lead-up to the November 8 event. Pilates, dance cardio and jump rope are making up the bulk of the part-Saudi model’s exercise program, the star told Daily Mail Australia, adding that she’s pairing her workouts with a clean diet. “In the morning I start off my day with hot water and lemon, and then I might just have two boiled eggs with a bit of avocado or smoked salmon, or just a green juice which is more plant-based,” she told the publication. “For lunch it’s quite the same, and dinner is steamed or boiled fish with steamed vegetables or a vegetable stir-fry, sometimes adding in lean protein. It’s pretty simple and easy.”

Earlier this month, the Australian-raised star revealed her training for the show had resulted in an injury, sharing several shots of her arm cradled in a sling. “I trained too hard,” Shaik captioned one, adding: “I’ll be ok though.” The model also shared a clip as she walked on a treadmill, arm bound, telling fans “she’s not gonna stop, she’s gonna keep working out.” Shaik will be joined at the show by her husband, DJ Ruckus, whom she wed in the Bahamas back in May. “I’m really excited he will be there and supporting me. I know he’s super proud,” the model added to the Daily Mail.

Joining Shaik on the runway on the night will be Victoria’s Secret stalwarts such as Adriana Lima, Behati Prinsloo, and Sara Sampaio, while Gigi and Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner will also return to the lingerie giant’s runway. Event organizers this week revealed that the musical line-up on the night will feature performances from Bebe Rexha, The Chainsmokers, and Halsey, as well as Rita Ora and Shawn Mendes.

“The show is a year-long production, and 2018 promises to be our most ambitious yet,” said Victoria’s Secret executive producer Ed Razek. “We have more musical guests, more fashion and more stories than ever; and, of course, 60 of the world’s top models.” The show will also debut a collaboration with London-based designer Mary Katrantzou, whose print-focused designs will feature on the runway.
