What happens when one of the city’s coolest boutique brands teams up with one of its biggest style stars? A collaboration worth taking note of. Revealed today at Fashion Forward the capsule saw Natalia Shustova’s sartorial style flourish. Named “Social Butterfly,” the pieces not only pay homage to her personal flair but also feature transformative pieces too. We speak to Shustova about working with Sauce and the inspirations behind the collection.
Why did you decide to team with Sauce?
I am a big admirer of Sauce, it was one of the first small boutiques to set up and bring new, cutting-edge small and medium brands to Dubai. It has grown into a brand that represents entrepreneurial women, their dreams, and all that is dynamic about our region. This includes blending cultures, ideas, and daring to be different. I love its beautiful work on the By Sauce seasonal collections created in-house. As long as I have been in fashion, I always felt we have a strong bond between our brands and once after a small chat at one of the events we agreed to do something together. In just a few months, our idea had grown into Social Butterfly. I am very honored to be the first ever collaborator with team Sauce. Sauce is well known for its quirky but feminine fashion choices and this is what my brand, Shoestova, represents as well.

What was the inspiration behind the collection?
It’s about a girl who is comfortable with who she is, happy to appreciate the good things in her life, and not afraid to try out new things. Always optimistically expecting something sweeter and happier in her next adventure. Sauce is a strong brand with a strong DNA, all about feminine shapes, ruffles, colors, and being happy. I wanted to work with this and create wardrobe staples that could be combined in different ways, so we still have embroidery, ruffles, puffy elements, and of course all this fun fashion, which Sauce is so well known for.
Do you have a favorite piece?
I personally love the Social Butterfly embroidered t-shirt and transformer maxi dress, that can go from a midi or mini dress, and then crop top in just a few easy moves.

What are your top three styling tips?
1 – Invest in separates: skirts, tops, pants, blazers, shirts. You will always be able to create new looks by remixing pieces in different ensembles.
2 – Invest in a statement t-shirt, which fits you perfectly. During the day wear it to the office with a blazer on top. At night, add a mini black vinyl skirt or pants to the party. On weekends wear it to the beach with denim shorts, or to a beach party paired with our transformer mini dress.
3 – Join the Shoe Club. Life is too short for cheap shoes; spoil yourself as often as you can and only buy the best ones.
