Wedding bells are ringing for Salma Abu Deif as she held her katb kitab ceremony with fiancé Idriss Abdelaziz on Wednesday evening. For the intimate event, the Egyptian actor gathered some of her closest friends and loved ones at her family home in Cairo. Ahead of the special day, Abu Deif revealed her look exclusively to Vogue Arabia, with her longtime collaborator and celebrity stylist Yasmine Kenawi sharing all the details.

“Salma and I have been working together for two years now,” says Kenawi. “The one thing I love the most about us is that it’s always a super beautiful collaborative experience. I was so humbled and honored to be a part of her big day.” With a clear vision of her look for the katb kitab ceremony, Abu Deif chose a dress that combined the most romantic details. The off-white gown by Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad came with a sweetheart neckline, a corseted bodice, and panels of white lace all over.

“When she told me about the katb kitab date, I was so excited and already knew exactly which creative route we should take,” shares Kenawi. “The katb kitab ceremony is a very small and intimate family event, so we wanted to start with a very elegant and chic look. Since we didn’t have time to customize, I found this beautiful lace dress from the Pre-Fall 2024 collection that I felt would be suitable for Salma. It represented all she wanted—feminine, elegant, and chic.” Kenawi also paired the dress with a custom shawl, while Abu Deif’s own diamond jewelry, and Valentino heels completed the look. For the after-party at St. Regis, Abu Deif slipped into a white mini-dress by Nafsika Skourti. “Salma wanted something comfortable and fun, however still representing the vintage direction,” adds Kenawi. “This dress is also from Nafsika’s first bridal line so we felt like it would be a really special moment, and a great transition from Zuhair Muard’s dreamy look.”

Abu Deif and Abdelaziz are set to tie the knot next year, in what will surely be a beautiful ceremony. As for her wedding dress? “Salma definitely already knows what she wants!” shares Kenawi. “She’s really inspired by a royal modern look. She wants her look to be feminine, timeless, and elegant.”
