Everything to Know About Rihanna’s Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show Look

All eyes—including those of non-football fans—were at the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show today as Rihanna descended from the sky, singing live on stage for the first time in over five years. Breaking the internet in true Bad Gal Riri fashion, the singer took the memorable moment to another level by announcing her second pregnancy, nearly nine months after welcoming her first child with A$AP Rocky.

Much like the first time, Rihanna did this in impeccable style, letting her baby bump-hugging outfit do the talking and sending fans into a frenzy and speculation even before her reps confirmed the happy news. Together with her longtime stylist Jahleel Weaver, Rihanna tapped Loewe and Alaïa for custom pieces—all in the bold, fail-safe, and attention-grabbing red. Rihanna’s ensemble came together on stage, as backup dancers swiftly dressed her in layers while the singer performed a medley of her greatest hits including “Where Have You Been”, “Rude Boy”, and “Umbrella”.

The 34-year-old artist kicked off the show in a sleek catsuit and a molded leather bustier under a cotton canvas overall with technical details. Designed by Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson, the pieces were inspired by flight gear, which is fitting seeing as Rihanna hit her first note of the show on a floating platform, several feet above the ground. “I’m so excited to have been part of this unforgettable moment,” Anderson stated. “Rihanna is a true icon, and working with her to bring these stage looks to life feels like a wild, wonderful dream.”

The flight suit was bookended by a duo of bespoke outerwear pieces by Alaïa’s Peter Mulier. Before the show reached its end and fireworks lit up the sky, Rihanna topped off her outfit with an oversized puffer coat. Eagle-eyed fans and fashion enthusiasts online were quick to note that the creation may be a nod to a late fashion editor and icon André Leon Talley, who was once pictured in a similar item.

Rihanna’s jewelry for the Super Bowl performance

It only makes sense for the “Diamonds” singer to “shine bright” on stage with a little help from glittering pieces by renowned jewelry houses. While her flight suit was decorated with vintage diamond brooches by Joseph Saidian & Sons, Rihanna sported a trio of pieces by Messika jewelry on her ears—the Magnetic Love mono earring, Équilibristes single earring, and the High Voltage Equalizer earring. On her wrist was the Jacob & Co. Northern Lights watch, which came with red sapphire crystals and a matching strap.

The Fenty Beauty founder complemented the theme of her look with a deep red pout and glittering silver eyeshadow created by the brand’s global makeup artist Priscilla Ono. As for her base, Rihanna kept it in check by making sure she looked glowy and not shiny with a little brand promo by using the Fenty Beauty Invisimatte Instant Setting Powder to blot her face mid-performance. The singer’s high-octane look was completed by hairstylist Yusef Williams with a braided ponytail sitting high on her head and bangs framing her face.
