Following Rihanna’s surprise appearance at the Golden Globes with her boyfriend A$AP Rocky – Rih in custom Schiaparelli and Cartier diamonds, A$AP in Bottega Veneta suiting – the singer has teased her forthcoming Super Bowl half-time show, and the inevitable fashion talking points.
The cryptic video clip, shared on her Instagram, is soundtracked by a compilation of news announcements about the show, before her track “Needed Me” kicks in. It sets the scene for her headline slot in February, one of the most high-profile – and coveted – gigs in show-business.

Rihanna’s Super Bowl wardrobe will be expertly curated, and this first look finds the star in a black halter-neck stirrup jumpsuit and stilettos, and shrouded in a canary-yellow coat by New York-based label Area, which is scattered with studs. She also wears a chunky chain necklace adorned with gothic cross pendants and two pairs of bejewelled hoop earrings.
Her longtime hairstylist and collaborator Yusef Williams, who was behind Rihanna’s “Princess-Leia-meets-Hollywood-meets-Wakanda” braids for the Golden Globes, as well as her hair look for her May 2020 British Vogue cover, masterminded another incredible sculptural hair look for the Super Bowl teaser.
The comments section on the megastar’s Instagram reveals fans are as excited to see Rihanna storm the field at the State Farm Stadium on 12 February as they are for her new music (she last released an album in 2016). In the words of Jerrod Carmichael: “Rihanna, you take all the time you want on that album, girl.”
