Reema Al Banna, the designer behind the 2016 Fashion Prize winning label Reemami has been enjoying a buzz lately. Her Majesty Queen Rania recently chose one of her knotted A-line skirts to attend an awareness meeting at the Sweileh Secondary School for Girls in Amman–pulled from the winning collection. The skirt caught the eye of American Vogue‘s Edward Barsamian who wrote a story raving about Her Majesty’s stunning choice of skirt silhouette.
Next, Al Banna was invited to share her illustration and print journey at Today at Apple in Dubai. Showcasing her signature work, she took guests through the creative process via hands-on sketching with Apple tools.
Now, debuting on Vogue.me, is a Reemami mini saga video series. Shot at her family’s farm in Sharjah, the three chapters follow a brunette and blonde as they live out an imaginary day in the European–let’s go with French–countryside. After all, the sidekick is a chicken. The videos take one back to summer days of childish insouciance, where time is spent playing make believe with odds and ends lying around. The sun is hot, the girls are bored, but dressed in Reemami, anything can happen.
