Your Backstage Pass to Rami Al Ali’s Couture Presentation

Couture Week is in full flow in Paris and while the runways have been lined with A-listers, we’ve been behind the scenes, capturing an insightful glance at all the sartorial action. From Rami Kadi to Georges Chakra, Middle Eastern designers have been displaying their finest gowns in the French capital, and we’ve got all the backstage atmosphere encapsulated below. From last-minute touch-ups to intricate close-ups, read on for your all-access pass to Rami Al Ali‘s presentation.

The Syrian-born couturier presented his Fall 2018 collection in Paris on Tuesday. The art deco-inspired collection was displayed at the 19th century Salon Pompadour in Le Meurice hotel, the same venue where Spanish artist Pablo Picasso (who heavily influenced art deco) celebrated his wedding to Russian ballet dancer Olga Khokhlova, nestled between Place de la Concorde and the Musée du Louvre.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Rami Al Ali collection without intricate beading, painstaking craftsmanship, rich materials such as tulle, Mikado and velvet, figure-flattering silhouettes, and opulence aplenty. The Dubai-based label’s offering had all of this and more, featuring a line-up of elegant eveningwear that would look equally as striking on his celebrity fans, including Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, and Mary J. Blige, as well as the myriad women who order from him.

A pink, sequined gown with layered sleeves seems like obvious Academy Awards material, while a metallic, champagne-colored column dress with bandage detailing was an understated yet elegant addition that would hold its own at a high society gala, museum opening, or lavish ballroom wedding.
