From traditional kaftans and dresses to sleek tailoring, the range of HM Queen Rania‘s wardrobe is a well-recognized aspect of the royal’s public persona. This week, Queen Rania pushed her sartorial boundaries further by embracing a fun version of the power suit. The royal attended the graduation ceremony of the International Academy – Amman (IAA) Class of 2024, and gave a special address to the students wearing a black blazer and long shorts. The single-breasted blazer from ALC featured pleats, while the Bermuda shorts from Dior were the highlight of her outfit, and came with a tie detail on both legs. The royal balanced the masculine side of her look with a pair of Tom Ford pumps with mesh and metallic pink tips.

As is expected from the royal with incredible style, her choice of long shorts is right on trend given that the kneecap-skimming pieces have quickly become a summer favorite. The Resort 2025 and Spring/Summer 2024 runways for brands like Chanel, Miu Miu and Dries Van saw many versions of the Bermuda short, offering inspiration for its versatility. While there is no shortage of options in the womenswear section, the shorts that received Queen Rania’s stamp of approval on Tuesday came from Dior’s menswear section, and proved that even royals favor “borrowing from the boys”.

“Dear graduates, parents, and faculty members, I begin with a greeting that is unique to us: May the peace, mercy, and blessings of God be with you, for there is nothing more beautiful than to bear a message of compassion, which our world needs now more than ever,” Queen Rania told the graduates. “Allow me to congratulate you and all of Jordan’s high school graduates, as well as your parents and your teachers, as you commence a new phase in life – well done.”
