The fairytale royal wedding of Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan and Rajwa Al-Saif was certainly a historic event, but the occasion has also provided an abundance of regal sartorial inspiration to the world. At the forefront of this fashionable occasion after the bride, of course, was the mother of the groom, Queen Rania.

While the style icon opted for an elegant black number from Dior—complete with high neckline, long sleeves, and intricate beadwork in shades of gold and beige—for the wedding ceremony at Zahran Palace, she took a slightly more opulent approach for the reception at Al Husseiniya Palace last evening. The Queen chose to champion regional talent by picking a creation from Lebanese designer Elie Saab’s SS23 couture collection.

While Elie Saab is certainly a master when it comes to regalia, this particular collection was inspired by the royal house of Thailand and thus interprets his opulent embellishment in new and intricate ways. The silhouette of this beige dress is reminiscent of the one-shouldered shape of the traditional Chut Thai, the national dress of Thailand. A heavily embellished fitted bodice featured embroidery, appliqué, and passementeries that carried along the edges of the skirt and floor trailing cape.

Queen Rania chose to accessorize her ensemble with a burgundy sash and a glittering brooch in the shape of a crown, and an impressive tiara. Her chestnut curls cascaded down her shoulders in a style that is usual for the royal. She kept it minimal and natural when it came to makeup with a nude lip color and bold brows.
