HH Princess Lalla Meryem of Morocco is known for her elegant wardrobe that consists of traditional, heavily-embellished kaftans she’s worn on the occasion of Prince Albert II’s marriage to Princess Charlene of Monaco and when meeting Queen Elizabeth II. But on Tuesday, Her Highness opted to switch things up by wearing a black jacket cinched at the waist and cropped trousers plucked from Jacquemus‘ Spring 2018 offering. The French designer took to his Instagram page to share a video that depicts Princess Meryem stepping out of a black car, sporting the crisp pantsuit, which she elevated with a white turtleneck worn underneath the blazer. Her Highness accessorized the elegant ensemble with pointed mules and a burgundy clutch. The young, self-taught designer captioned the video: “The princess of Morocco, Lalla Meryem in JACQUEMUS, “La bomba”… find it so special to me….LOVE SO MUCH THIS COUNTRY….” alongside an emoji of the country’s flag and a red heart.
Indeed, his love for the North African country was made evident when he presented his Fall 2018 offering during Paris Fashion Week, which served as a love letter of sorts according to the program notes that described his influences as a trip to Morocco that he took after his last runway show. The collection was a mix of his tailoring, draped slips, and flowy, kaftan jumpsuits, which would fit perfectly in Princess Meryem’s closet.
