Model and actress Suki Waterhouse, and presenter and social media entrepreneur Poppy Jamie are both business partners and best friends. Launching their eponymous accessories line Pop & Suki late last year, the brand has expanded in leaps and bounds. Known for its multipurpose bags which you can customize they’ve found the formula to stylish success. Here the girls talk all things business and how they are prepping for the party season ahead.
What’s new for Pop & Suki?
We’ve just launched in Nordstrom (US exclusive), are about to launch at Selridges (UK exclusive) and have recently launched our fall collection including our first brand new bag style – the Carryall!
What has been the most popular addition to your line?
People went crazy for the personalized Make Up Case when we released it, and it remains one of our top three sellers, and is currently Nordstrom’s top selling Pop & Suki item!
Why do you think the concept of personalization has been so well received?
Personalization was already huge when we decided to launch Pop & Suki, so we thought why not jump on the customization bandwagon and do it in a unique way. Our customers love being able to print on leather, as there aren’t really any other brands on the market doing that.
Who have you enjoyed seeing wearing your designs?
Poppy: We died when we saw Pippa Middleton wearing our Bigger Cognac Camera Bag with Scalloped Strap! It was all over the press.
Suki: It was pretty surreal when Lady Gaga wore our pink Camera Bag on stage in Japan with “Joanne” printed on the bottom.
What inspires you?
Poppy: Female friendship and women raising each other up.
Suki: Music, film, and reading.
What is it like working with your best friend?
It doesn’t feel like work. It’s a constant adventure and it still feels ridiculous that we get to work together for a living.
Do you have a favorite piece from the collection?
Poppy: Our Camera Bag in Ruby.
Suki: Our Carryall in Emerald Croc.
How do you feel social media has affected your business?
It’s been everything. We could never have launched our brand if Instagram didn’t exist – it’s still where the majority of our customers discovered us and it completely eliminated the traditional barriers to entry for new fashion brands.
What three beauty products can you not live without?
Poppy: Glossier coconut lip balm, Charlotte Tilbury mascara and foundation.
Suki: Shani Darden retinol reform, MINU hair serum, Waterhouse young heal gel.
What is your go to look for the party season ahead?
Poppy: I’m loving a tailored suit at the moment!
Suki: Lots of sequins and glitter.
What will you be gifting?
Everyone we know will be receiving Pop & Suki.
What are you wishing to receive?
Sophia Amoruso’s Girlboss Workbook!
