Ink into your diary June 13-16, 2017 as the dates to visit Florence to see Pitti Immagine Uomo’s Menswear Spring 2018 collection showcase and the Florence Fair at Fortezza da Basso, entitled Boom, Pitti Blooms. With more than 1,220 brands taking to the show spaces, 220 new brands have also been added to the roster – including the debut of Lebanese brand Waste Studio – so the fashion festival is set to forecast the future of men’s style for Spring 2018 and beyond.

To mark the launch of Pitti Uomo’s summer offering, director Valentina Be and creative director Stefano Roncato, in conjunction with Art + Vibes, produced a 60-second short film shot in the Villa Ida Lampugnani. The film explores the color and playfulness of Pitti Uomo’s menswear collections as they are best lived: worn zipping about on a skateboard with moments documented on social media (the happy emoji recommended, but not required).

The biannual exhibition itself covers 60,000 square metres and curates menswear from urban experimental looks, unisex collections from global designers, and luxury emerging brands with a focus on streetwear labels. The theme of the fair is “vital energy,” which manifests in next-gen digital icons and blooms taking over the show spaces: expect inflatable plastic florals and larger-than-life sculptures primed for Instagram. With sections including “Make” and “Unconventional” in the exhibition space, a broad scope of menswear Spring 2018 collections are elevated for industry review. On the first floor of the La Rinascente department store in Milan, the collections take over a pop-up space with limited-edition Boom, Pitti Blooms capsules of bold accessories.
