This week, Peter Dundas showcased the launch of his eponymous Dundas Resort 2018 collection of rock chic eveningwear, set to debut on Moda Operandi tomorrow. The Norwegian speaks to Vogue Arabia about his solo move.
I think fashion is changing and it’s time to rewrite the rules. Finally, I met someone I wanted to partner with on this with and that was Evangelo Bousis so it was an easy decision.
What is your brand’s ethos and what are you aiming for the signature pieces to be?
Our goal is to connect with our girls and client base even more than I have before, through straight-to-customer sales. Glamorous red carpet looks but also more accessible price points for part of the collection.
Where are the clothes made?
The first capsule was made in Italy but I believe in producing clothes where it will make the most sense for quality, price, and sustainability.
Will you aim to showcase during fashion weeks?
As a company, we want to evolve organically, also in how we showcase the collections. This time it coincided well to present during couture but I don’t see a need to always do this.
Of course. But too many to mention and also too great of a risk in forgetting someone! Let’s just say every woman who likes to look beautiful with a sexy, rock-star attitude.
I think immediacy is a part of today’s world but we still need to understand how to translate this into a functioning aspect of the fashion supply chain.
Arab women are some of the biggest customers of eveningwear and they are well served by our Arab designers (Azzedine Alaïa, Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad, to name a few). What “gap” does the Peter Dundas label aspire to fill?
I think every designer has his or her own story to tell and own vision to express. I have always dressed Arab women. Hopefully, they will like some of what I am doing today.
