Ukrainian-born designer Petar Petrov launched his namesake label in Vienna in 2009 after studying at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna under the tutorship of Raf Simons and Viktor & Rolf. Now the brand is set to broaden its sphere of clientele by launching on StyleBop.com today. Shipping across the Middle East, the premium brand brings its sleek tailoring and luxury refinement to a broader audience of confident women the world over. For Fall 2017, expect PVC wrap pencil skirts, edgy suiting, and ruffled dresses with charisma. “Petar Petrov is a designer that we have had our eye on for a while now,” Coco Chan, head of womenswear at Stylebop, tells Vogue Arabia. “Clean, precision-cut essentials in the most gorgeous fabrics, which also resulted in some memorable street style moments this last season. Simply put, it is just beautifully constructed womenswear.”
The fashion desk gets the 101 on the brand from Petrov and decodes his take on modern, modest dressing that works in all major fashion cities, from Dubai to downtown NYC.

Tell us about the concept behind the new collection.
Every collection I work on is like a next step in a journey, without a seasonal theme or story. I envision what a modern woman desires and how we can make her more beautiful in a fresh and relevant way, without trying too hard. It’s about a woman who’s independent, individual, and has a taste for the unexpected.

With Fall 2017, as with all collections, I’m playing with contrasts in many forms: sharp tailored shapes with soft, transparent blouses and dresses, heavy wools paired with organza silk and metallic highlights, patent leathers, cozy cashmere, and neutrals with vivid colors.
What is in the pipeline for the brand for the rest of 2017?
Our first Resort collection will be here for the festive season in November.
In your career so far, what are you most proud of?
That the work I do each season garners a growing response and appreciation.
In the new-season collection, which piece would you describe as the showstopper?
The Elvia blouse in silver metallic with ruffle. It was a key seasonal piece and definite showstopper!
What makes a woman truly elegant?
Confidence and individuality with a personal take on style.
In regards to the modest dressing movement, why do you think it has become globally relevant?
Modern elegance isn’t about being vulgar. Women today can be modest and still desirable.
