Olivier Rousteing’s Balmain show this week was nothing short of a masterclass in fashion artistry. Rousteing’s impeccable tailoring skills were on full display as models strutted down the runway in the brand’s signature style—blazers with striking but sensuous cuts accentuated the feminine form and mini dresses with waist-cinching corsets. Flowers took on a new life in this collection, as they were draped across many of the looks. Whether in polka dot fabric or fully bejeweled, the floral embellishments added 3D effect to the garments.

Dries van Noten

For his latest collection, Dries van Noten drew inspiration from traditional menswear, incorporating elements like classic shirt stripes and khaki fabrics, with a sprinkling of denim for good measure. He also drew from the world of leisurely lawn sports such as tennis, cricket, and rugby. What made his approach truly distinctive was his innate ability to infuse these familiar pieces with a distinctly feminine touch. The collection’s first look featured a bralette with reimagined shirt stripes, paired surprisingly with an oversized camel coat and knee-length shorts. Khaki cargo pants transformed into wrap skirts, and a generously sized schoolboy blazer met its match in a shirtdress adorned with delicate, see-through paillettes.

At Rabanne, creative director Julien Dossena evoked the imagery of a warrior woman draped in glistening chain mail and brought the animal kingdom alive in an unconventional but brilliant collection. The metallic linked coins, which originally resembled armor, underwent a remarkable transformation into what appeared to be luxurious sheep’s wool, vibrant peacock feathers, or graceful horsetails. The house also introduced a selection of tanks and bags that unmistakably embodied the brand’s striking design.
