Paco Rabanne’s Nadia Dhouib

Tunisian-French Nadia Dhouib is the new General Manager of Paco Rabanne, it has been announced. The former managing director of Galeries Lafayette Champs-Elysées replaces Bastien Daguzan, who served five years in the role.

Dhouib will begin her new role in April, reporting to Vincent Thilloy, chief brands officer at Paco Rabanne and Jean Paul Gaultier, which is a further fragrance business owned by Spanish house Puig. Dhouib, founder of RethinkRetail.Advisory, has supported designers since transitioning from Galeries. “Retail isn’t dead – it’s boring,” she told Vogue Arabia at the time of her Galeries appointment, explaining that she was looking to create an experience for customers. Watch this space to see what transformation she will bring to the house of Paco Rabanne.

The maison was first established in 1966, immediately introducing a cutting-edge and contemporary identity. Its Spanish founder, born Francisco Rabaneda y Cuervo, in 1934, was the son of the head seamstress at Balenciaga. He escaped the Spanish Civil War by fleeing to France, where he assumed the name Paco Rabanne. First training as an architect, he turned into avant-garde accessory designer and began making unique pieces for haute couture houses. His eponymous brand was launched in 1966, and he then went on to feature looks made with moulded plastics, hammered metal, aluminum jersey, and knitted fur. His iconic chainmail dresses—donned by the likes of Françoise Hardy—remain emblematic of the house today.
