The fifth, annual, three-day Through her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program workshop kicked off with a luncheon at Locanda Verde yesterday in New York City. American actor Katie Holmes and brand ambassador Kristine Forseth were among the many guests at the lunch. The program serves to discover and empower ten rising filmmakers with project support, master classes, one-on-one mentorship, and peer-to-peer sessions. Further encouraging creation, the program will award funds for project development and production. Program participants include luminaries such as actor Catherine Keener, director Sam Taylor-Johnson, and Tribeca Film Institute’s Amy Hobby.
Also in attendance were actors Glenn Close, Anna Baryshnikov, Dianna Agron, Emily Mortimer, and Marisa Tomei. Amid chic Chanel tailoring, Italian cuisine, the sense of community and wonderful sisterhood permeated the Tribeca eatery.
Chanel, of course, is no stranger to women in film. The French house counts Spanish actor Penelope Cruz and American director Sofia Coppola among its ambassadors.
