Whether you like sleek, minimal designs or conceptual layering, there’s no denying that body jewelry is having a big moment. Thanks to stars such as Zoe Kravitz and Rihanna embracing a number of piercings, and the recent rise of celebrity jewelers including Maria Tash, it seems like every It-Girl has a glimmer of gold or silver in her ears nowadays. And, if you’re looking to take the piercing plunge – or wanting to add to your collection – then an upcoming showcase could be for you.
The Piercing Annex is returning to Dubai next month, following its inaugural pop-up in the city last year. The brainchild of Saudi entrepreneurs Lamia AlEisa and Reema Motib, the traveling piercing studio offers women of the region the chance to get their hands on a number of high-end brands, as well as get their piercings in a safe, experienced environment.
The pop-up will take place in Building 3, Dubai Design District, between November 7 and 9, before moving to I, And The Village concept store in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, between November 14 and 17. Hosted by Lamb & Lu, an online retailer specializing in contemporary fine jewelry, The Piercing Annex will bring a curated range of pieces from clients to choose from, from cult brands such as BVLA, Pupil Hall, Meenu, Shiva, and the aforementioned Maria Tash (whose celebrity fans include Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Blake Lively).
Piercings will be carried out by professionals from IRIS Piercing Studios using a single-use needle (you’ll find no piercing guns here), with prices starting from AED 250 for a single piercing. Jewelry, which is all nickel-free and hypoallergenic, is charged separately, depending on the piece you want. Booking is a must, and appointments can be made at thepiercingannex.com.
