Undeniably, a leather jacket is a closet staple. With its origins in aviation, it quickly transcended pop culture to become the jacket of choice for rock stars and entertainment industry bad boys (Elvis, James Dean, Marlon Brando). Before taking the helm of Lanvin, Bouchra Jarrar made her name in Paris as the go-to designer for Le Perfecto, otherwise known as the motorcycle jacket. Now, with Jarrar’s namesake brand closed, there is a gaping hole to be filled for the luxurious, timeless leather jacket characterized by its zippers and hardware accents.
Enter Nour Hammour. Established in 2013, the bespoke Paris-based brand is the all-leather label launched by Nour Hammour (of Syrian origin) and Erin Conry Webb, both Istituto Marangoni grads, and admired by the likes of Gigi Hadid and Taylor Hill. Of the French savoir faire artisans who create the one-of-a-kind pieces, Conry Webb states, “The luxury leather artisans we work with have been in the industry for more than 30 years and they are true artists when it comes to leather and the shape of a woman’s body.”
Now, following the brand’s success, it is being extended to a wider clientele via international retailers (including Themodist.com). With the Le Perfecto jacket remaining at the center of the duo’s creative process, the iconic motorcycle jacket is reinvented with fur inserts, textured shearlings, and heavy metal embellishments to create an empowering statement piece. “There is something special about dedicating our focus to leather only. It allows us to reinvent an iconic motorcycle jacket with new references every season,” says Hammour.
The Fall 2017 collection features The Montaigne motorcycle jacket, made with Icelandic sheepskin and coming in an oversized fit with tailored proportions and an embellished accent belt. The Vendome, a tailored fit jacket peppered with metal hardware, is the It jacket for fall. Nour-hammour.com
