She’s a chart-topper, Hollywood actor, and now Nicki Minaj can add fashion designer to her ever-growing CV. The Queen hit-maker – and Vogue Arabia September 2018 cover star – is poised to reveal a capsule collection created with Diesel later this month, according to reports. Minaj will help launch the line – of which little is known – at Milan Fashion Week, presenting the collection at an event at the Italian label’s store on September 19. “The Queen is coming,” states an invitation shared with WWD.
The rapper also teased the collaboration on Instagram this week, telling her 91.9 million fans to “stay tuned”. “You need people like me. So you can point your finger & say: THAT’S THE BAD GUY,” she wrote alongside an image of herself wearing a shaggy hooded jacket. “Got a surprise for anyone who’s ever been labeled #TheBadGuy.” The star later added that she’d “waited so long to share this surprise with you,” revealing an entire street in Milan will be shut down for her collection’s reveal.
The collaboration will be featured as a part of Diesel’s “Haute Couture” collection, which was revealed earlier this year as a “bold message toward haters worldwide.” The line is “an invitation for everyone to step up, face and own the negative messages we receive every day,” Diesel founder Renzo Rosso said back in July. Minaj will join the ranks of Y/Project designer Glenn Martens and Hood By Air founder Shayne Oliver, who have both previously collaborated with the label. Stay tuned, as we’ll be bringing you more on the rapper’s collection as the story unfolds.
