After months of inactivity on Spotify, Meghan Markle is returning to the streaming service with a new podcast. Titled Archetypes, the podcast will be hosted by Markle and will have a summer release.
Through the podcast, the Duchess of Sussex will continue championing women’s empowerment by diving into the origins of misogyny and sexism. The podcast aims to analyze and touch upon the beginnings of gender stereotypes and why they dictate women’s lives, bringing up language used towards women and how it defines them.

“This is how we talk about women: the words that raise our girls, and how the media reflects women back to us… but where do these stereotypes come from?” questions Markle in a teaser for the podcast. Archetypes will feature the mother-of-two in conversation with historians and experts on the subject to uncover the root cause of stereotypes. “This is Archetypes, the podcast where we dissect, explore, and subvert the labels that try to hold women back,” says Markle, adding, “I’ll have conversations with women who know all too well how these typecasts shape our narratives. And I’ll talk to historians to understand how we even got here in the first place.”
The news of the podcast has been long awaited after Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry signed a multi-year deal with Spotify in partnership with their production company, Archewell Studio back in 2020. The Duke and Duchess mentioned this decision came with a mission to “build community through shared experience, narratives and values,” and Markle’s Archetypes keeps that goal in mind.
