Nesrin Sanad Stars in Faissal El-Malak’s Striking Visual for Fall 2018
Faissal El-Malak unveils a short movie to coincide with his Fall 2018 collection exclusively with Vogue.me. The 2017 DDFC/Vogue Arabia Fashion Prize ready-to-wear design winner joined forces with Kenyan director Amirah Tajdin to create a rousing five minute clip that stars the all-women Emirati traditional music and dance group Um Yaqout’s Troupe alongside model and actor Nesrin Sanad sporting key pieces from his namesake brand’s Fall 2018 collection. The visual, entitled “Embroidery for a Long Song” was commissioned by W Hotels in collaboration with online music-streaming platform Mixcloud for the Dubai edition of Future Rising in February.
It’s not the first time that the multi-talented designer took to the medium of film to showcase his creations. For Spring 2018, El-Malak tapped Dana Hourani to model the designs in a short movie (also directed by Tajdin) dubbed “Persimmons and Potions”. Because, why shoot a lookbook when you can shoot a film?
