Piaget’s Limelight Gala Milanaise collection served as the inspiration behind Nathalie Trad’s latest offering of must-have bags. The Lebanese accessories designer and 2016 DDFC/Vogue Fashion Prize finalist, who is known for her signature sculptural silhouettes beloved by Amal Clooney, Queen Rania, and Nicole Kidman, strives to create pieces that aren’t simply made to be slung over your shoulders, but objet d’arts to be displayed proudly – which makes the collaboration with Piaget a fitting one.
Featuring two pieces, which looked to the 1970’s Limelight Gala watch and the Decors Palace Bracelet as direct inspiration, the bags mimic the gold and silver color palette of the timepieces. The sculptural clutches — called the “Milo” and “Louise” bag — fuse together Trad’s signature mother-of-pearl inlay technique with the craftsmanship of Piaget. The Milo clutch features a curved design, a nod to the iconic Gala watch; Meanwhile, the Louise bag comes in a bold, gold hue reminiscent to that of the Decors Palace Bracelet. Both clutches incorporate brass inlay with a hairline polish finish to reflect Piaget’s signature work of gold in its timepieces.
The unveiling, which took place in the designer’s Dubai Design District boutique, coincided with the launch of Piaget’s latest iteration of the Piaget Limelight Gala timepiece, which is characterized by asymmetric lugs.
The tribute to Piaget is available for purchase on a pre-order basis. Meanwhile, Trad’s full range of clutches can be bought via her brand’s website.
