Last night, Egyptian actor Salma Abu Deif was honored with the Best Arab Actress of the Year trophy at the Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards (Diafa) for her role in A’la Nesbet Moshahda.

It was a one-of-a-kind night out for parents-to-be Salma Abu Deif and Idriss Abdelaziz, who walked the red carpet together. The actor looked radiant in a custom Georges Hobeika gown, which came in a soft pink hue and appeared to be a sartorial ode to her soon-to-be-born daughter. Abu Deif had announced the happy news of her pregnancy, along with her child’s gender in a special cover for Vogue Arabia’s October 2024 issue, which also saw the 31-year-old star in a pastel and floral-themed shoot.

For the awards, Abu Deif‘s bespoke gown exuded femininity, and featured an off-the-shoulder neckline alongside an empire waistline adorned with a bow. The actor took to Instagram to share her love for the gown designed by the Lebanese couturier: “[I] would love to thank @georgeshobeika for always sharing with me special moments and customizing the most romantic dress I have ever worn.” Styled by Cedric Haddad, Abu Deif’s look was made complete with a diamond choker and earrings by Sartoro Genève.
Abu Deif and Abdelaziz tied the knot earlier this year, after getting engaged in May and having her katb kitab ceremony in June. Speaking to Vogue Arabia while announcing her pregnancy, the actor shared her thoughts on motherhood. “When I found out that I was pregnant, I felt a mixture of conflicting emotions. The news hit me as a shock at first, but I also felt happy and nervous at the same time,” she shared. “I don’t know what kind of mother I will be, but I hope to God that I will be an accepting, understanding, and caring mother to my children.”
