She’s a runway star who’s walked for everyone from Victoria’s Secret to Philipp Plein, but now Shanina Shaik is broadening her CV in her next project. The part-Saudi model is set to appear in Greed, a British comedy film about the world of the super-rich. Directed by Michael Winterbottom, the filmmaker behind Angelina Jolie‘s A Mighty Heart and The Trip, the satirical movie also stars Australian actor Isla Fisher, British comedian Steve Coogan, and David Mitchell.
Shaik has been shooting her scenes in recent weeks, with filming taking place in Greece. The model has shared several shots from the European destination as she relaxes between takes in Mykonos, and Wedding Crashers star Fisher has also uploaded selfies from the set with her 1 million followers. It is unknown what part Shaik will play in the film, in which Coogan stars as a retail billionaire and Fisher as his wife, “the only person who truly understands him and all his complexities”, according to Deadline.
Filming has meant that Shaik has missed a rather important occasion back home – her new husband’s birthday. The star wed Gregory Andrews (aka DJ Ruckus) in May in a stunning boho-style ceremony on the Bahamian island Eleuthera. Australian-raised Shaik sent a loving message to her spouse as she marked his big day from Greece, telling the musician she loved him “like how your wife loves chocolate cake”. “I wish I could be with you to celebrate your born day but I know your family and loved ones will take care of that,” the model added, alongside a snapshot of the happy couple.
Shaikh will have to finish taping her scenes this month, as she’s also set to appear in another high-profile event in November – the Victoria’s Secret show. The model, who last walked in the annual catwalk spectacle two years ago, revealed last month that she was returning to the lingerie giant’s runway. “I’m overjoyed and so beyond grateful,” the 27-year-old wrote on Instagram, adding she was excited to make this year’s show “unforgettable”.
