Gigi Hadid, 25, excited fans back in April this year when she confirmed her pregnancy with former One Direction star Zayn Malik. Since the announcement the model has been relatively coy, choosing to only reveal more about her pregnancy journey when she is ready. So followers on her social media were given a real treat yesterday when she offered a glimpse of her baby bump for the first time.
Following months of being discreet, Hadid flaunted her baby bump on an Instagram Live session. Previously the bump was always disguised with clever camera angles, choice clothing or a fairy emoji – the chosen method used by her dad, Mohamed Hadid.
During her big reveal on Instagram Live, Hadid unbuttoned her green and white shirt and said, “There’s my belly y’all,” before adding that she doesn’t always look pregnant in her photos because “from the front it’s different.”
“I really appreciate your positive messages,” she continued. “I’m just taking my time with sharing my pregnancy.” Hadid also spoke of choosing not to talk too much about her pregnancy, adding, “That’s a reason that I felt that it’s not really something that I need to share apart from with my family and friends. Obviously a lot of people have lost lives due to [the] coronavirus that was in the beginning of quarantine and still happening. And then we moved obviously into the reemergence of the BLM movement, and I thought that our presence on social media should be used for that.”
Hadid confirmed that she is expecting a baby with on and off boyfriend Zayn Malik on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “Obviously, we wish we could have announced it on our own terms,” Hadid told Fallon. “We’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support.”
