Missoni has unveiled its Fall 2018 campaign starring Gigi Hadid, and though we’ve just entered August, the images have us pining for sweater weather already. Photographed by Harley Weir, the part-Palestinian model appears in a series of portraits wearing rainbow knitwear in the form of patch-worked trousers, oversized cardigans, maxi dresses, and ponchos against the opposing backdrop of clear, blue skies. Hadid was also the subject of the Italian label’s equally-colorful Fall 2017 campaign a year ago, also photographed by Weir.
The blonde catwalk star was hand-picked to serve as a brand ambassador for Missoni by Angela Missoni, the daughter of the luxury label’s founder Rosita Missoni, in July 2017. Hadid’s appointment came after two seasons of ads fronted by Danish model Frederikke Sofie and Dutch model Saskia de Brauw. The model took to her Instagram to share the news with her millions of followers and thank Missoni for “welcoming her into her amazing home.” Similarly, Hadid uploaded the Fall 2018 campaign images on the social media platform. “NEW @MISSONI by @harleyweir big love and thanks to @missbrunello @gb65 & the whole team x,” she captioned the images. And, if the social media platform is your barometer of success, each of the campaign photos posted on Instagram by Hadid have garnered more than 1 million likes, making the advertorial one of the buzziest of the Fall 2018 season so far.
In addition to fronting campaigns for the label, Gigi (and her younger sister Bella) have also taken to Missoni’s catwalk during Milan Fashion Week— Gigi opened the brand’s Fall 2018 show wearing an oversized knit sweater paired with matching pants.
