Michelle Obama’s Book Tour Fashion Just Blew Up the Internet

Former American First Lady Michelle Obama arrived in Copenhagen this week to launch the European leg of the book tour of her memoir Becoming. Arriving on stage at the Royal Arena in a pink, hand-embellished suit featuring crystal starbursts the length of the suit jacket and trousers, Obama had the audience–and soon afterward, the Internet–going wild. Local Danish brand Stine Goya created the custom look. The designer behind the brand that recently released a 100% sustainable collection is former Chanel model Stine Goya who has been crafting clothes with a focus on color and print since 2006.

While Obama has been sporting suits for the majority of her tour thus far–tailored jackets and wide-leg trouser iterations–this is the first time that the former first lady hits the stage appearing like a veritable firecracker of verve and sparkle as accented with Scandinavian panache by the millennial pink suit with starburst crystal appliqués. Goya writes, “For us, Michelle Obama represents everything we strive to represent through our collections–strength, intelligence, independence, confidence. Mrs. Obama possesses a vivacity and spirit like no other! Her role as an activist, mother, and writer shows the multiplicity of the female spirit.” Shop the look on Net-a-Porter and Stine Goya regionally on The Modist.
