Dubai-based couturier Michael Cinco made headlines yet again this weekend when he designed a Swarovski crystal and paillettes-embellished wedding dress with laser-cut flowers and six-meter train for a 23-year-old European heiress.

The gown belonged to singer Victoria Swarovski, who wed property investor Werner Mürz in Italy. During the evening, she later changed into a scarlet red, high-low dress with plunging neckline, also signed Michael Cinco.

Last month, the couturier’s name was all over the papers and social media when actor Aishwarya Rai brought fairy tale magic and echoes of real-life Cinderella with this ballgown for her Cannes Film Festival red carpet appearance.

The couturier shares that the ballgown debuted on the runway at Fashion Forward Dubai in March 2017, and was inspired by a painting of the Infanta Maria Theresa, wife of the Sun King, Louis XIV of France. The skirt features 100 meters of tulle and its inner construction is made with horsehair. It required 48 hours to construct, with four tailors and 30 beaders working on the embellishment. Afterwards, 10 petites mains required 120 hours to embroider the tulle. In total, the gown measures 2.5 meters wide and features a 1.5-meter long train. Michael Cinco’s first image of Aishwarya Rai in the dress garnered 54 357 likes and 544 comments. Rai’s Instagram video of her walking the red carpet in Michael Cinco has reached 135 425 views and counting.

Michael Cinco is a favorite of celebrity performers, including Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, and Beyoncé.
