The Duchess of Sussex kicked off her week the right way in chic summer workwear. Walking arm in arm with Prince Harry at the UN General Assembly in New York, she dressed for the occasion in a figure-hugging pocketed midi-skirt, a crew-neck top, black Manolo Blanhik BB pumps, a gold Cartier Tank Française watch – the same timepiece beloved by Princess Diana – and a Mulberry Bayswater tote.
Hours later, for lunch with feminist leader Gloria Steinem at the Crosby Street Hotel in SoHo, she continued her smart streak in tailored navy Bermuda shorts from Dior, which she cinched at the waist with a tan Ralph Lauren belt. She teamed her city shorts with a white blouse and another pair of her beloved Manolo BBs – this time in a tan shade. The Duchess swapped her does-it-all Mulberry Bayswater bag for a beaded pouch from Cult Gaia.
The Duchess and Steinem recently took part in a conversation with award-winning journalist and founder of News Not Noise, Jessica Yellin, to speak about the terrifying overturn of Roe v Wade. In the discussion, published by British Vogue, the three women considered the impact of the ruling and the future implications of what this could mean for the rights to same-sex marriage, same-sex relationships and contraception.
When asked by Yellin what this moment requires, the Duchess responded: “Unity – really listening to people, understanding the Constitution was written at a time when women were second-class citizens. We’re not. Certain things need to change.”
