Everything You Need to Know About Meghan Markle’s New Workwear Collection

The Duchess of Sussex is currently creating a workwear collection which will benefit a charity. Yesterday, the Instagram account for Sussex Royal announced that Meghan Markle will be partnering with four brands — Marks & Spencer, John Lewis & Partners, Jigsaw, and Misha Nonoo on a capsule collection of formal attire. Utilizing Markle’s status as a style icon and her advocacy for women’s rights, proceeds from the collection will go towards the UK charity Smart Works which empowers unemployed women with training and clothing to help them join or re-enter the workforce.

Smart Works is also one of the Duchess’ four royal patronages and a charity she paid “quiet visits” to over the last year, according to the announcement made on the Sussex Royal Instagram. The post showed several photos of Markle on her maternity leave, working with the women at the nonprofit. “Throughout her visits she noticed that while the donations were plentiful, they were also notably a combination of mismatched items and colours which weren’t always the right stylistic choices or sizes that didn’t necessarily “suit” the job at hand: to make a woman feel confident and inspired as she walked into her job interview,” said the announcement.

Out of the brands teaming up with Markle, Marks & Spencer is one brand whose pieces she has been spotted wearing while Misha Nonoo is the eponymous label owned by a close friend of the Duchess who also attended the royal wedding.

The collection will launch later this year and will be sold on a one-for-one basis. This means that one item will be donated to the charity for each item purchased from the collection. “Not only does this allow us to be part of each other’s story, it reminds us we are in it together,” wrote Markle in British Vogue.
