Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, Makes Her Debut Appearance With Prince Louis

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, stepped out this week in a new label—Ralph Lauren—to support her sister-in-law Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, at Prince Louis’s christening ceremony. In the past month, Markle has made seven public appearances (both with and without Prince Harry) and made quite the impression in her directional approach to dress.

For Monday’s celebratory occasion, the Duchess kept things refined and classic in safari-inspired colors, a palette she has felt most comfortable in since taking on her new role. The cape-like silhouette recalled the effortless elegance of the neutral tone Givenchy piece she wore to join Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, in Cheshire. Amping up the polished effect were tonally coordinated accessories: an oversize hat by Stephen Jones, a thin belt at the waist, and suede Manolo Blahnik stilettos. What Markle’s latest ensemble reveals is how she plans to dress going forward—respectable and appropriate for all occasions, but with an American twist.
