Fashion and art go hand in hand, with both worlds constantly borrowing the looks, skills and styles of the other. So, then, it was only natural that Kuwaiti accessories label Marzook chose to pay homage to some of the world’s most celebrated paintings for its Spring 2018 collection, but with a Middle Eastern twist.

The campaign reimagines iconic masterpieces, such as Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, and Johannes Vermeer’s Girl With a Pearl Earring with the introduction of headscarves, and abayas.

“I truly believe modesty is religionless,” says Fahad Marzook, who runs the label with his sister Shouq. “Women choose modesty as a personal choice in their daily lives. There should not be a distinction between modern and modest fashion in this day and age. We wanted this collection to reflect our personalities and individuality.”

“For the Spring 2018 Collection, we were in touch with our traditional heritage and culture,” adds Shouq, whose brand is much loved by the likes of Amal Clooney and Cara Delevingne. “The collection is called Life Imitating Art. Our joint conception design ethos seamlessly melds with timeless art.”

Featuring the brand’s signature bags in anything-but-minimal designs, the collection celebrates richness and luxury. Incorporating the most exotic leather, metals, and skins into their pieces, the Spring 2018 collection is more than just arm candy. The pièce de résistance (pictured above) is the Crystal Ball bag – a round clutch completely embellished with Swarovski crystals that resembles a disco ball, sparkle and all.

Each innovative piece will be available to buy in October, just in time for holiday season shopping.
