Maximalism has always been at the heart of Kuwait-based accessories label Marzook. The label, which was founded by siblings Fahad and Shouq Al Marzouk, is recognized for its sphere-shaped bags featuring harlequin patterns, and its transparent plexi trunks. Now, the duo have taken their statement signature to new heights by teaming up with Saudi calligraphist Nughamshi.

Titled Shaghaf, which translates to passion, the collection features the brand’s orb-shaped bovine leather handbags in black or white, anchored with the renowned calligraphist’s free-style graffiti-like strokes in gold.

Every piece is like art, with no two alike

Speaking to Vogue Arabia about the theme, Shouq Al Marzouk shares, “Shaghaf is an extreme emotional state. Fahad and I are very passionate about design and art, so it mixes our emotions that drive our brand.”

The launch of the capsule collection is timed to coincide with Ramadan. It’s a natural fit for the siblings to team up with Nughamshi on a collaboration, since they all show a bold aesthetic in their works. “Every piece is like art, with no two alike,” says Shouq Al Marzouq about the 48-piece limited-edition line. As the Holy Month kicks into full gear, Shouq Al Marzouk shares how she will be styling her bespoke bag: “Recently, my kaftans are all about the cut and finishing, not really about the beadwork and hand-embroidery. They are like a blank backdrop in solid colors, so when I wear the bag it will be the centerpiece of my outfit.” No argument there.
